Modifciation rip off

A friend of mine went to this firm last year to ask for help to save her home and get a lower mortgage payment. She paid them a total of $6,000.00 dollars, when another payment was due she wanted to know what they had done she never received any information. When she attempted to locate the orginal office it was a PO Box. They have a fancy web site and another office which they do not want people to show up at. She received a notice of default at which time she came to me for help. Her lender had NO record of being contacted by this company at all. Nor had they even become an authorized party to discuss her account. When she again called them she did receive a return call from them and the message was unbelievable. She if did not send her payment they were going to cancel her file. My question was what file???
This firm appears to get alot of money and clearly did nothing for this woman at all. To make matters worse her laon can not be modified her lender has not given thier servicing company any loan program at all. Had this company had any contact with the lender at all they would have know this.

She has since hired an attorney and will proceed with litigation in this matter but please tell people not to give away the hard earned money they do have to this company!!! Her home is safe for now but it is going to be short saled thanks to lender not giving any help either...
