Court summons, settlement offe

My parents received a message on their answering machine from a Beverly Hill stating that she needed to speak to me about a court summons. My dad called me and then I returned the call. I spoke with a woman claiming to be beverly hill and she stated that I was being sued by a magazine company for breach of contract, theft of services, and intent to defraud for the amount of $1213.69 but I could settle for $400. I stated I dont remember ordering magazines and asked for proof. She stated that they had me on tape authorizing the contract from the year 2004. I asked why they waited over 5 years to sue me and she said that there is no statute of limitations on the contract. I told her to send me a copy of the settlement offer and she said that after the payment was made that she would send me all copies. She asked for my work information and I told her that I work for a sheriffs department and couldnt not receive faxes or calls there. She stated she completely understands (I actually do work for a sheriffs dept). I told her I would speak to my wife and get back with her. She kept trying to get me to authorize a payment by debit or credit card but I would not.
