ADS Moving & Storage, Budget Van Lines
ADS Took Our Furniture Against Our Will, Then Held The Furniture Hostage Pending An Extortion Payment

Shops, Products, Services

We had to move from Florida to Texas. Comparing prices, we noticed that Budget Van Lines advertised the lowest charges. We called Budget Van Lines and were promised that we would be charged a total of $1473.41. Budget Van Lines told us that they were a "broker", which means that they contract a moving company to take the furniture.

We were promised that the movers would come either on Monday, March 30 or Tuesday, March 31. And we were promised that the furniture would be delivered in Texas on Wednesday, April 1.

On Saturday, March 28, movers from ADS Moving & Storage showed up at the apartment two days earlier than promised. They said that they had to move the furniture that morning. We called the ADS manager James White, who assured us that we would be charged the price that we were promised by Budget Van Lines. So we let them load the furniture on the truck.

But as soon as the furniture was loaded on the truck, the ADS movers told us that we would be charged $2113.34 - which is $640 more than what we were promised by Budget Van Lines.

We told the ADS movers that we wanted them to give us back our furniture. We told them that we did not want them to move the furniture for us.

The movers told us that we could not have our furniture back until we paid them the new higher price. James White, who I think is the owner of ADS, specifically said to me that we would never see our furniture again unless I agreed to pay him the new higher price on my credit card.

We called Budget Van Lines, the "broker". But Budget Van Lines was part of this extortion scheme. Melissa Lilly from Budget Van Lines completely supported ADS seizing our furniture against our will, and then holding our furniture hostage until we agreed to make the ransom payment.

ADS and Budget Van Lines continued to blackmail us for 6 whole days until I finally decided to make the credit card payment because I feared that we would never see our furniture again. I let them take the money from my credit card. We finally received our furniture on April 3.

ADS and Budget Van Lines are thieves, extortionists and con artists who blatantly violate the law. Their companies are like criminal enterprises. They should not only be put out of business, they belong in prison.
