Salt River Project SRP over charging, charge for false services, huge RIPOFF!

We had some financial issues last month and our electricity was shut off by SRP. They had recently come out and replaced our meter with a new digital meter. It was confirmed by SRP that with those meters comes the ability to "remote disconnect" their customers service just like the cable and phone companies do. Hence, they no longer have to send someone out to your home. With that said, let's take a look at my bill.

Mind you, the problems started when we had issues paying a $270 so SRP see's fit to charge you through the nose for shutting the service off and then turning it back on.

1. Monthly service charge (what the hell is this anyway? What service?) - $17.20

2. Energy (kWh) charge - $149.51

3. Tempe City tax - $3.00

4. County and States tax - $10.50

5. FIELD VISIT FEE (they don't come out to your home any longer!) - $27.03 How in the hell do they come up with THAT number anyway? 3 cents?

6. Delinquent Disconnect Charge (I had problems paying the bill to begin with so now they're charging me to SHUT OFF my service?) - $70.27 (how do they come up with that odd number as well?)

7. Premium Reconnect Charge - $21.62 I was told it would be $20 and this was to turn our service back on the same day that it was shut off. We could have had it turned back on for "free" but we would have had to wait an additional 24 hours.

8. DEPOSIT BILLED - $93.00 We were informed that we would have to pay "another deposit" on top of the $300 they already have. This was supposed to be split up over the next few bills...

9. Late Payment Fee - $4.81 they get you coming and going!

10. DEPOSIT BILLED - $92.00 what happend to splitting this up???

So after all is said and done, the grand total is $488.45. We are being billed for services that never occurred as they no longer send anyone out to you rhome, we were double billed the deposit and we were never told the fee for simply pushing a button to turn off our service was going to be $70.

It's not like we have any choice in the matter; there is no other electric company we can use in our area. I woudl advise that everyone start inspecting your bill. I have to give them a call to try and fight some of these outrageous charges. I will update this and let you know what happens!
