The story of how T-Mobile ripped me off, by lying to me in order to sell me a fone they knew I would not be able to use, and then refusing to unlock it so I can use it again unless I fork out more money to their corrupt company.

In November I travelled to the US from Australia, and while in Vegas, brought a new handset, a Motorola W490, from T-Mobile. Before buying any fone, I made it very clear to the sales girl that I live in Australia, and wanted a fone that would work when I came home. I selected a W490, and the girl assured me that this fone would work back home in Aus.

Satisfied that I was getting a good deal that I would be able to use for many years to come, I purchased the handset, along with the activation kit and a small amount of credit to use the fone while still in the US, and had the fone set up as Pre Paid. All up it cost me $US207.39.

All was well until I landed in Sydney and switched the fone back on. No T-Mobile reception, no great suprise. So I switched out the T-Mobile SIM for that of my local carrier, and found that it was requesting a pin to unlock the fone before I could use it with a different carrier.

So upon returning home in Queensland I visited the store of my local carrier for advise on unlocking the fone. I was told that this could ONLY be done through T-Mobile. NOT ONCE wile I was purchasing the fone did T-Mobile bother to inorm me of this fact!

So I get onto the company's web site and contact customer support. Only to find out that I have to wait 90 days to be able to get my fone unlocked! 90 days pass and I try again, only to be told that in order to complete my request, I must add more credit to my account. WTF? I cant even get service from your company down here, you want me to spend money on credit I can never use?

I have been bounced back and forth between a number of different so called customer service reps, each time receiving the same scripted bullshit in reply to my attempts to have my fone unlocked.in short, attempting to use their customer service email service is as good as running around in circles.

I am still fighting with them in order to be able to use my very expensive fone. I dont see an end is near, unfortunatly I will probably never be able to use the fone and will never be able to get my money back. I was lied to, ripped off, and then treated like garbage by their company!

Dont let it happen to you. Dont use T-Mobile, and speak up if it has happened to you!
