TXU Energy
Unhelpful, horrible customer service, disinterested Houston

Our bill was estimated for September (the month of Hurricane Ike) and it was also the month we moved out of the residence.in early October I received a bill for $231.63 which we paid and were actually surprised it was that high since we had not had power at our house for close to two weeks after Ike. When we moved at the end of the month TXU said that they would not be able to get out to disconnect the power until October 6 because restoring power was priority.

I was completely understanding, especially considering we had been without power for so long. However, when I received my bill at my new residence for October, there was an included amount of $998.41 for the previous location. This would be August 31 - September 29
($231) plus the September 30 - October 6 ($998 at the previous residence). A total of 37 days, not excluding the 12 days we did not have power in September, and a bill of $1230.04. Previously our bills had been close to $300-500.

I don't understand how it could be possible to double our energy usage in half the time from our previous bills. We did not have any large energy consuming products plugged in before or after the storm.

When I contacted TXU about the issue, which means I called over 27 times and was continually transferred, hung up on and did not have my complaints recorded, they said they would have the meter reread, but when it was reread it was the same as the reading from the bill. It would have been possible for anyone to steal our electricity before or after the storm because I don't think there is an outdoor socket aside from the back yard which has a 10 foot fence around it, and our neighbors got power back before us since we were on a smaller grid. I'm not sure if it would have been possible for the meter to have malfunctioned in the storm or after a power surge, but we did not consume any more energy in September than in August.

I complained to TXU first and finally told them that I would be filing a PUD. They told me to take it up with CenterPoint. My response is simply, I don't have an account with CenterPoint, i give you my money, it is your responsibility to manage the vendor... What the heck else to I pay you for?!

I have since filed a PUD where TXU continued to hold their ground. I'm sick of them, being hung up on, passed around, left on hold for hours and not having my complaints recorded. No one knew what was going on and I still have not received any help.
