Credit collection scam

Do not send any money to this company. Last year I sent $273 to this company. I have taken out payday loans in the past and I got a letter indicating a "tax time settlement", I figured that I must have missed one while cleaning up my credit, and promptly sent the funds they were requesting. Fast forward one year later, after not hearing from this company for one year... in November, they sent me a letter saying that they were collecting for another payday company. Don't believe that I owe anyone this money. Then, in January, I received the sam "tax time settlement" offer with a different payday lender. Not buying it this time... I'm trying to buy a home and am terrified of some unscrupulous creditor reporting a negative item on my credit as current. Glad I checked here before even considering paying this bill. Don't request a lot, $ amounts in the hundreds-makes it easy for people to just write a check and consider it settled. Do not send them money to preciptate this fraud.
