Hey DJ's, getting all your music ready, your equipment together, that tuxedo out of the dry cleaners, the directions to the gig on Saturday. Spent hours getting together all the wedding songs and going over the bride's details.
If you love being an event DJ as much as I do, you know the excitement of doing parties and being a part of someone's most special day. If you can relate to all I just said, than you also can relate to putting all that effort forth and not being paid one cent for it. Try doing 5 of these jobs and not being paid $1200 you are owed. John Kruer will talk to you for months telling you he's on another line, he'll call back, he's really busy and so sorry for the delay in communicating with you. He'll go over the details of what jobs you are owed for 20 times but never do anything but talk with you about it. He seems to be one of the kindess, calmest, concerned people you'll ever speak with. But unfortunately behind all that act is a waste of your time. You will probably not get your money and he is happy to stall you for as long as you wish to call or e-mail about it. The saddest part of this for me has been that I love to work as much as possible, and John would have made alot more from me by paying me my share of the gigs than cheating me out of a mere $1200 dollars. So in conclusion, my warning to fellow DJ's is better to take off some time and spend it with your family than waste another Saturday working for people who see you as some kind of sucker.
