Director Producer schedules a shooting, then doesn't even turn up for it, then doesn't pay neither for expenses nor agreed work fee

I worked for Ed Burley as a director pf photography in october for a documentary in France. When I arrived there it turned out that he wouldn't even attend the shooting and I had to do the co-dircting whereas beforehand we agreed on a daily rate for DOP work only.

After one week of work with rented equipment which I paid for and the travel expenses I sent him an invoice which he agreed on. Weeks later he still hadn't paid for it claiming that due to the global financial crisis payment was delayed. Around december he again told me that his client was paying late and he would sort things out in the following couple of days.

He kept telling me that after a few more weeks and before christmas I wrote him again to ask for the money. He wrote that he was surprised that his client hadn't paid me and he would... Again... Sort things out.

I haven't received any payment until now and he / his production company owes me almost 4000$.

I would recommend to anyone coming across any ad from this guy to stay away as far as he / she can as he is not trustworthy at all and keeps telling lies.
