Work hard, no pay

I was offered a one week employment trial when Boxcar Foods was operating out of the old Fort McClellan commissary building. During my original one week trial period, their lease was cancelled and they were moving to Atlanta. They asked if I wanted to move with them, I declined, and then they asked if I would work for them until they moved. I also declined that offer, as something seemed off about them. They actually called me the next week to see if I could please come work until they moved - I again declined. I was supposed to have been paid for my trial period - they said it would take a month until I was paid for the work I had done for them, as they only issued payroll once a month (red flag anyone?). I never received any form of payment for the time I worked for them, I am just happy I backed out when I did, instead of being screwed out of more than one weeks pay. I still ended up eating the costs for the 80 mile daily commute.
