UPS, UPS insurance is a joke, They destroy your item and then don't pay

I shipped a bicycle to Utah and upon arrival the suspension fork was broken in half. UPS must have layed the box on its side and piled tons of weight on it to get this kind of results. When it arrived in Utah my customer opened the box and discovered the broken item before even taking the bike out. I was contacted by email with pictures of the condition of the box and the bike.

I contacted UPS and was told that someone would pick the item up and bring it to UPS to inspect the it. About a week later the bike arrived back here in Mass. With the box more damaged then in the pictures. I contacted UPS about why the bike came back to me and they said there was a problem and it didn't get inspected. So I had to ask why it came back to me, they said that they didn't know and would come pick it up to inspect it for real this time. They did indeed pick it up and then drop it back off in the same day. A few days later I get an email saying that my claim was denied. At this point I am getting angry because this has been going on for a couple of weeks.

I called UPS to fight this bogus claim and they told me they would get back to me within the next 48 hours. About 4 days later I called UPS and complained about how long I had been waiting, they said someone would call me back within the next 24 hours. About an hour later someone from Crawford Insurance in Ft. Worth Texas called me to explain that my packaging wasn't sufficient. I explained to him that I packaged the bike the way huge bicycle companies package their bikes for shipping. I was told that isn't enough packaging and my claim was still denied.

On the box it says SHIP UPRIGHT with a big blue arrow but I was informed that UPS isn't required to read anything on the package because that would take too long. So if you have anything valuable make sure you hand deliver it. UPS is out to make money and isn't worried about loosing a few customers to be on top.

So here I am left with a broken bicycle and a disapointed customer. Now I have to eat the cost of the repair even though I insured the package for $1200.00. I hope you read this and think twice about who you ship you stuff with.
