Warning... To Buyers and Sellers in Southwest Louisiana

If you want a Realtor who won't take your calls and says she'll call you back but doesn't, then Kay Vaughn is the Realtor for you. If, however you want to be treated with courtesy and respect, find someone else.

We accepted an offer on our home; listed by her; 4 months ago. Our buyers' mortgage company continued to ask for extensions because only 1 of 3 credit bureaus was reporting an updated score. On the day of the deadline of the latest she did not bother to contact us until the end of the work day, and then only by e-mail and text. The phone call she promised never came, she promised the phone call 30 hours ago.in her e-mail she stated that she was still at her office tying things up after a closing. So obviously whatever she was doing could not be put on hold for a simple and courteous 5 minute phone call.

I suppose she is like most people these days, courtesy is only extended when there is pay-off or benefit to be gained by being respectful. I realize now that many other Realtors have this same attitude. If I can save someone else the same stress, anxiety and heartache that we have endured, it's worth the time to write this.

Also, shop around and get MANY referrals before choosing a Realtor. Don't just pick the first one that's nice and sounds positive. Remember they are probably only acting that way, because there is potential for financial gain. If for some reason they begin to see your situation as not financially good for them, they may cease to treat you with simple courtesy and respect. Like I said some people only do what's right if they can get something out of it.
