I came home yesterday. Last night to a home without gas. That means, freezing cold showers, a freezing cold house and no stove to cook food. Why? I've lived in this home for exactly 32 days. The gas has been on for 25 days. I haven't even received my first bill yet. So, I called the company to see what happened. They said an investigation had been launched and they have determined that I have lived here for months. First off, they have my social security number, can't they just check my credit to see I've lived in a different County for the last 22 years. Second off, there was no notice. No note on the door, no phone call, no letter. Just off.

They said I just changed my name so that I didn't have to pay the back bill. The other attendant did not pay. I wonder what proof they have. Because my proof of a rental agreement with my landlord at this place, and the place I lived before and all that mail that's being forwarded from the old place I lived. With all the addresses and names of the old address. Well I certainly think its good proof. What I don't understand is why I was not contacted to furnish proof.

I just don't know what else to say. I'm shocked and freezing cold right now. And I am not going to be blackmailed or scammed into paying a bill that is not mine. Oh by the way, my bill would have been 17 dollars and some change. But the other attendants bill was over a hundred dollars. I really think they're just trying to pin this on me. I think they know its someone else, but just want someone to pay. I just want to pay my own bills. Is that so hard to ask.

I just called the Southern California Gas Companies collections department and this is what they had to say. They know I am a different person, but the owner of the condo did not pay the gas bill. They said they have to pay it. I asked them why I was not notified about this, given a letter, call, anything, especially before giving them money. There words "we just don't do that". So I give them my deposit, my payment. My money, and then I get the notification of all this? This is not fair! I paid my bill, the owner did not, so send them a bill, don't let me and my family suffer in the cold, without a stove to cook. We have to suffer, while the owner gets to live somewhere else. More than likely where they dont pay gas! Where the house is all electric. The only people suffering is me and my family, and I paid my bill!
