Across USA Moving
Bad service

On August 20, our son received a quotation from Across USA Moving and Storage Company of Dallas, Texas (US DOT: 1489126, MC: 560670, Registration #: Txdot-006095954) to move his household goods from Las Vegas, NV to Denham Springs, LA. The quotation reference number W543502 was for $5,967.30 to load, transport and unload an estimated 1747 cubic feet of goods. As our own estimate of the volume of goods was 1630 cubic feet, this estimate was within 10% and seemed reasonable. As a 50% deposit was required prior to pick up, a check for $2,983.65 was mailed to the moving company.

The moving company truck arrived at our son�¢ï¿½ï¿½s house in Las Vegas on August 30. Prior to loading the goods, the movers insisted that our son sign documents that had not been completed (Revised Written Estimate, Interstate Household Goods Bill of Lading, Packing Materials and Labor Price List) After the papers were signed the movers loaded the truck and then they filled out the papers to read that they had an extra 450 cu. Ft. Of household goods, consumed over $660 of packing materials that were not used and charged for 30 man hours of labor although loading of the truck was included in the original quotation.

When they delivered the shipment, they would not unload until the full amount based on the excess charges was paid. They demanded $5336.33. We had already paid them $2983.65 on August 21. We were told to file a claim with the company for reimbursement.

Upon measuring the goods in the trucks when delivered in Denham Springs on Sept. 21 the cu. Ft. Was 1628 minus 9.417 cu ft. Which did not belong to us. It was also obvious that the packing materials charged on the Packing Materials and Labor Price List was grossly erroneous. We have detailed these excess charges to Across USA and their Claims Management Company in two certified letters.
