Wants Payment For Shipment That They Lost! DHL sent me to collections for a shipment that they lost! Worldwide

I attempted to send a large box of merchandise for a band I was managing while they were touring Europe. I sent the box, that was about as big as me, using my DHL account. Turns out the box was never delivered and they lost it. Now they want me to pay the $300 balance on the shipping, for a package they lost! How ridiculous is that, their collections dept has called and they don't understand why I won't pay they charge, they keep telling me to read the contract! It is all just so ridiculous! I can see why they are going bankrupt and closing at the end of January, because they are a bunch of incompetent losers! They have now turned me over to collections and are hurting my credit, and I don't know what to do other than to get my attorney involved... Any suggestions???
