Unauthorized Charges on my Qwest Phone Bill

My Qwest phone bill was $8.43 higher than usual this month, and when I checked it over there was a set up fee from Laurentel.

I've never heard of Laurentel, have no idea who they are or what they do. I called Qwest who took it off my bill. I then called Laurentel who told me I had authorized the charges by submitting a subscription form with my address and phone number on the internet. I told them I did no such thing, that I already have voice mail and don't need a 1-800 number, and I never subscribed to anything on the internet.

When the rep insisted I had signed up, I told him he was working for a company of scam artists and thieves. He said he would cancel my subscription.

Luckily, my phone bill is the same every month, and my bank's bill pay shows the amount I paid last month so I can compare. I'm sure these people are stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from unsuspecting people who don't check their phone bills.
