Guilty till proven innocent

Today I went to my local Wal-Mart store in Concord, North Carolina. I had just been through a truamatic personal ordeal - I was tired and apparently that was noticable. Anyways - I go to the self checkout and start scanning my order - I had 5 cans of store brand soup - costs about. 58 cents a can. Somehow I missed scanning one or the scanner machine did not scan it and I did not notice. No alarms are going off - near as I can tell everything is ok. I kept going on with the task at hand, and the girl who stands guard and vigil over their shoppers trying to steal from WM self checkouts - comes over and starts going thru my bags - says I have a can of soup I did not scan. I tell her I have 5 cans of soup - I asked her to go look at the receipt and see how many I scanned - she refuses and hands me a can of soup from my bag and orders me to scan it or else. I do it, I need to leave and am too tired to have the fit most people who know me would expect. I finish up w the last item - an electric air popcorn popper - I scanned it, put it my cart along w my other items - shove money into the machine - and looking forward to home and some rest. I am about 5 feet away from self checkout and she chases me down and says I did not pay for the popcorn popper. I gave her my reciept where it is plainly printed as the last item scanned and I said: "F_ _ _ You. Its on my reciept, leave me alone." She says she is just doing her job. I informed her that what she was doing was harrassment, degregation and embarrassment. I did not notify any members of the WALMART - "we are better then everyone else who can ruin the life of any shopper we choose" management team. I did not even try as it is a totaly lost cause. The cashiers treat people this way because they can - because WM managment promotes the idea of treating their customers like sub-human beings and likens to the idea that every customer who walks in the door is there for the sole purpose of stealing from them. Thier attitudes and treatment of customers should be against the law and in many cases it is - but they do it because they can. The justice system sides with the retailer almost everytime (esp WM - they have big bucks to keep these idiots in power)- everyone is guilty till proven innocent. And... As long as our lawmakers and enforcers see it this way and prosecute the innocent while the retailers get away with murder - it will not stop. Who needs a trip to China or some other failed society when we have the local Wal-Mart to provide us with what it must be like to be close to a dictatorship. Wal-Mart pays in lost revenue as they chase more and more customers away - they don't run the planet like they used to - and they still DON'T get it!!!
