Told Truck Grill Needs $200 Freight, Charged $20 for Box

I went to this Mail Boxes Etc. store and had the worst time of my life. I needed to ship a front grill for a truck to a friend of mine. As soon as I walked into the store, the guy looked at me as if he did not want to work.

Right off the bat, he told me that I would not be able to ship that item. I knew you could mail this item, so I thought he meant financially. So I asked him what he meant. He replied that from looking at it, he could tell I had to go freight, and that it would cost about 200.00 dollars. I told him I had had the same grill shipped to me, and they only charged me 20.00 through UPS.

He insisted that I had to go freight with this piece, so I told him I would not pay that much. In the meantime, I had them box up some hoses, also to be shipped. After hearing what kind of prices they charge, I told him to cancel the other package too, because they charge too much for shipping. Can you believe this guy charged me 20.00 for boxing up the hoses and taping them up? The box is only 24"x24"x12"!

I asked why he would charge me 20.00 for a carton box this big. He said firmly, without any manners, that that is the price, he had already boxed it up, and I was going to pay for it.

Anyway, I went up the road to the post office. They gave me boxes for free, and believe it or not, I was surprised how much these people were going to overcharge me when the post office only charged me 19 dollars and change to deliver it. For the package that they boxed up, I was going to pay 80.00 to have it shipped, and I paid 24 dollars and change at the post office.

I was treated poorly and laughed at, and customer service was not on these people's list. They think they are doing you a favor by shipping your goods so you do not have to stand in line at the post office, but all they are doing is ripping you off. If you use them regularly, try the post office and you will see the substantial amount you will save.

In summary, these people will charge you an arm and a leg for shipping. Unfortunately, I could not get this guy's name. All I know is that he was working on or about noon on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
