Refuse to refund my money as promised 4 weeks ago if I returned their product

They are refusing to refund my money after they promised to 4 weeks ago if I returned their product, which I did. The contract was cancelled on 8 Aug 08 and they received the product in Aug also, now they do not want to give me back my money. They owe me $306.11 and want to keep it after they received their product back, if they have their product what make them think they can keep my money.
