Net10 Does Not Honor Minutes You Purchase

Previously we had difficulty with Net10 taking away money when the phone wasn't used. Such as no sending out messages but taking away the money as if the message was sent. They also have not honored the minutes that were left on the telephone and the new phone card was instated. With this they refuse to give you the minutes that you have rightfully purchased.

Net10 states that they charge for minutes on a telephone. You purchase the telephone and thus own it. They provide you service and charge you ten cents per minute on calls. This supposedly keeps you free from monthy service contracts and charges. They also will turn off your telephone if you do not redeem more minutes in a specific amount of time even if you still have minutes on your phone and are using the phone. Minutes left on the phone, even though you own them by rightfully purchasing them, are deleted.

When asked for the company to redeem the minutes they stole from me they refused. When telling them that they belonged to me because I rightfully purchased them and stated consumer protection laws to this effect, they still refused. They stated that because a policy was listed on their website stating they had the basic right to eat your minutes they were within their rights to basically steal your minutes and keep your money.

I have filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General and with the FCC to have them see if this is truly an unfair business practice. It seems to me that taking money for goods or services and then not providing them is illegal. Looking at the number of complaints and people that have been having the same problems this company is literally taking in millions of extra dollars in funds and not providing anything back to the consumers for the money.
