Worked as a Personal Trainer for 11 days until I discovered that I was not being paid

I am a former employee at LA FITNESS. I signed on as a personal trainer. I was told by the personal training manager that I would be paid $12.00 per hour when I was training. I received virtually no employee training from this manager. I was not even issued a shirt that the personal trainers were supposed to wear.

After working about 99 hours over 11 working days, pay day came and there was no check for me. Granted, many of those hours were on the following pay period, but I should have been compensated for my time. I realized at that point that I had been doing charity work for LA FITNESS.

I performed over 30 fitness assessments which take over one hour to perform. The purpose of these assessments is to sell personal training packages to the members. These packages all have a $149.00 enrollment fee and have monthly fees attached to them ranging from $160.00 to $640.00 per month. I did manage to sell one personal training package while working there with an estimated commission of $100.00. Also I did perform two official (one half hour) training sessions that I supposedly will get paid for on the next pay check date. That should give me a grand total gross pay of about $112.00 for my 99 hours of work.

Needless to say I told the manager that I would no longer be performing charity work for LA FITNESS, and that he could call me when he was able to to book 16 one half hour training sessions per day to make it worthwhile for me to even come in. He assured me he would call me, but I won't hold my breath.
