My wife and I were planning a move to California.
We were selling our house, so we had a inspector come out to look the place over. He told us that as far as the chimney was concerned all it needed was a cleaning.
A few days later I was going through a coupon book that I received in the mail. It said free inspection $20 dollars off Complete Cleaning Etc. I called and made an appointment.

The day that they were to arrive, the man called, Rodney I think his name was, said he would be three hours late. I had already taken the day off work so I said okay.
Then he called and said he would be another 45 minutes.
Upon his arrival he was upset and acted like he didn't even want to be there. Thinking that everyone has had a bad day I let him continue.

He was on the roof for about fifteen minutes before he came down with a list of repairs. I told him that the inspector said that the chimney seemed to be in good working order. I told him that I would think about it and I would just like a sweep for now. He did not seem too happy. He cleaned the chimney and I paid $125. Even though we were selling the house I wanted to make sure that the fireplace was in good working order for the new owners.

I called another local company to come out and give me an estimate for repairs. The chimney sweep that came out said everything looked okay, it just needed cleaning. I told him about The Chimney Man and he not only told me but showed me as he took several large pieces of debris from the inside of my fireplace. I paid for another cleaning.

I told the second sweep that I was going to write something on usacomplaints.com. He told me not to mention their company name to avoid any confusion. He did offer some good advice:

First, check to see if the company is licensed by the state. All reputable chimney contractors or chimney repair companies have a license by the state. Go to your local labor and industries website. Also check to see if they have a website. All to insure you will not be doing business with, as he called it, "a ghost company" and after you find a licensed company check their reviews online. And always get a second opinion!

After all is said and done I paid for a sweep twice. I tried calling the phone number on the flyer, to this day no one has returned my calls?
