Patty Sherfy sent me a defective $1500.00 toy (not) poodle puppy

In January I called Patti Sherfy looking for a top quality show prospect male toy poodle. She stated that she had a fabulous litter by Champion Kodak Moment at Four Paws that was two weeks old (as advertised in Dog Fancy Magazine). All four were red males. The purchase price was $1500.00 and she required an immediate deposit of $300.00, which I sent. The original letter stated that if none of these pups were breeding quality my deposit would be retuned. I had saved for over a year to be able to purchase a show prospect. She even suggested registered handlers in the Phoenix area. I waited for three and a half months for this puppy and she said she wanted to be sure it was the very best of the litter. The last week in April I sent the balance of $1200.00 plus $229.00 for the crate, health certificate and shipping.

I finally received the puppy on May 4. I did not and still have not received any AKC registration papers. When I picked him up at the airport he was the ugliest poodle pup I had ever seen. Ugly head, long body, crooked front. Three days later I took him to the vet and he was diagnosed as having bilateral grade three luxating patellas I immediately called her leaving a message to call me back it was very important. No response. I called several other times no response until 5-24-08 (4 weeks later) when she called and said why are you calling me-what's the matter with you? I informed her of the two vets' diagnosis and she insisted that I get a third opinion. I immediately took him to an orthopedic specialist. Same diagnosis. I sent all vet reports to her - no response. When I called her vet Dr. Keith Saathoff at Rose Hill Vet Hospital in Tomball Texas, he stated that the dog he examined was sound. Meaning that she substituted another dog for examination to get the health certificate and then she sent me a different dog that was defective. I sent a second letter to her requesting my money back and she refused. She wrote me a letter stating: if or when I ever have another puppy he will be replaced. So what I am left with is an ugly 8 month old, 13 inch tall dog with grade three luxating patellas, no AKC papers, no proof of parentage and I will never breed an unsound dog.

Patty Sherfy is a crook and a fraud I have filed a report with the Harris County Attorney's Office Consumer Fraud Division. If anyone else has been scammed by her please contact me at xxxxxxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxxxxx or the Harris County Attorneys Office or the AKC.
