Rip-off Are they trying to possibly steal my money & or identity

I also recieved a letter claiming i was already approved for a PLATINUM card with a credit line of 5,000.00. Sounded very attempting considering i have bad credit, and I am currently experiencing money problems. The first thing that caught my attention was the fact there was no phone number to call to verify my approval or no web addresses, im glad i took time to research and find out that it is a bogus letter.

What other information could they have about me? Could they possibly steal my identity and cause me financial problems i cannot afford. What can i do to protect myself.
