We fell for their scam on making a TV series on Energy Saving products and are now being sued

We were contacted by Platinum Television saying they were interested in doing a segment on our products for their Sustainable Planet series. Since we have a couple of energy saving products and our website gets hits from all over the world, we were not terribly concerned or surprised that someone might be interested.

We investigated and spoke to some other customers of Platinum Television with some mixed responses. None had actually had a segment air on TV as of that time but the videos had been made. The cost for making this video is $19,700 but you do get to retain the video for other usage.

We signed the agreement to move forward because we were expecting to sign up a very large customer that same week. However, that deal feel through so the following week, we contacted Platinum Television and let them know we needed to cancel the contract.

They never responded to us except to send us an invoice a full month later. They had never contacted us to proceed with any marketing efforts or obtain information about our product but yet expected us to pay $19,700 for 1 week of nothing. They have now sent us more than one demand letter and now have an attorney filing a lawsuit against us.

I expect that no TV stations have picked up any of their shows, so this is how they are going to meet their costs by demanding money for doing nothing. Really sad that they have to do business in this manner.
