Movers delayed delivery horrific customer service threats

Do NOT use this company!!! Reliance Relocation gave me a competative rate for moving my apartment belongings from Philadelphia to Massachusetts; my initial contact was pleasant and encouraging. The gauranteed move date was Aug. 14. Currently, I keep calling them - now several days later - and they keep moving the date back "until the van is filled." I called the dispatcher to find out the status of my delivery, and he became quickly rude, actually yelling at me and threatening me with turning his van around and leaving my belongings in Philadelphia. He insulted my age (I am a young female) and accused me of playing games when I indicated that, for the sake of professional accountabililty, I may be forced to contact the BBB and NJ State Attorney General. I told him that I was recording his responses to protect myself, and he told me forcefully NOT to write down what he was saying. When I told him that the forman on this job gave me a specific delivery date, he responded angrily "that conversation is all in your head. No one gaurantee you that." I asked him to speak to a supervisor or company owner if he was unwilling to help me with this situation. His response, and I quote, "that's it! Enough! It not your business. I not gonna tell you." We spent over a half an hour discussing my delivery. Finally, exasperated, he said, "I don't have the time. I call you tomorrow. Your delivery gonna happen tomorrow." Not surprisingly, the next day I received a call indicating that the shipment had been moved back again.

I've checked my contract with Reliance Relocation. Legally, the parts of the contract that I signed indicate that I alone am responsible for changes in "arrangements... While en route/or at destination, method of payment, and charges." The forman also signed this part of the contract, therby holding the company legally accountable for failure to provide services as agreed. I did NOT sign the part of the contract indicating that I was provided with the "Rights and Responsibilities" brochure and am therefore not liable for my responsibilties outlined in such a document.

As of today, I still do not have my belongings and have still not been contacted by the dispatcher, though I've left him messages. Essentially, the company is holding my personal effects hostage and threatening me with non-delivery. I have filed a complaint with the BBB at this time.

Please be advised for your own sake, DO NOT even consider this company. I want to save as many people as possible from enduring what I've endured. We all deserve better treatment, and every professional should be held accountable for their actions. Good luck to you all, if you are also moving.
