A sympathetic story is actually a pathetic attempt to scam people using magazine sales

A young person came to my door, saying they were apart of a competition to get the most points. His name is allegedly Matt Shipman, and he said he was being sponsored through a program helping kids in public speaking. He had a slow way of talking, and made lots of corny jokes, so he seemed genuine. But as soon as I said I could help, he pulled out his magazine sales information. That was a warning flag, but I still believed him, and agreed to buy a subscription.
After he left, with my check, I looked up the company and found this site, with a similar story. The website was legitimate, but there's no guarantee they are contracted through Tower of Power Sales.
Do not trust these guys. There is a way to cancel within three days, which I'm doing, as well as asking my bank to cancel the check.
