Do not use ais dependable movers!!!

During contract negotiations, their salesperson Stephanie lied to us several times about the services that they provide. When we went to talk to Sandra McDaniel, the office manager and sister to the owner, on June 23, about some issues that arose from our June 13 move, she clearly stated that Stephanie had made promises the company could not keep with other (potential) clients in the past (thus, we were not the first victims) and that AIS would work with us to resolve any issues, a promise which she did not fully fulfill. She told us that Stephanie was no longer with AIS, and that they were going through a lawsuit (which may have been unrelated).

Sandra made statements to us about ways in which they would compensate us and later retracted a portion of those offers on July 29 (they did allow us to take some goods out of the warehouse and provided us with free storage for approx. 51 days). On June 23, she offered to apply a $319 deposit to the movers' pay rather than pocketing it for the office but refused to fulfill that promise when asked about it on July 29. Also during our July 29 conversation, Sandra called Stephanie, who was no longer with AIS at the time, to discuss issues that we were bringing up and then took Stephanie's word over ours even though she knows Stephanie had lied or made promises in the past which could not be fulfilled.

When confronted about a clear violation of our contract on Aug. 6, Sandra stated that the contract was void because we had had our items delivered to their storage first and then redelivered to our final destination (up to that point, she never made mention of the need to have a new contract written because of the change in delivery). Throughout this entire process, there were multiple times that we attempted to have messages delivered to a supervisor (such as Sandra), asked to have someone call us back with information, or received a promise from an AIS staff member that someone would get back to us, but they did not respond.

AIS had to come out twice to pick up our items, partly because Stephanie did not do her diligence in getting an accurate weight built into the contract. While this also fell in part on our shoulders, we made it clear to Stephanie at least twice that we probably had considerably more weight than the generic estimate upon which she was basing the contract. On July 29, when we wanted to talk about issues with the move, Sandra found it appropriate to talk about how they should have charged us for a whole second move (2,000 pound minimum) when picking up the remainder of our stuff. She cared mostly about defending how AIS is right or had gone above and beyond rather than trying to understand our point of view, compromising and coming to a mutually beneficial resolution.

If you think about using them, get every detail in writing. Be sure that you have an itemized list of everything in every box. Do not seal your boxes until the movers look at the items inside and ask them to sign off on a list that says everything in the box was in good condition. Our movers did not take down the detail that they should have when making the move - they did not even note everything that they took on the trailer. The AIS administrative staff and the movers rush through moves just trying to get them done, rather than trying to get them done right and trying to watch out for both themselves and their customers at the same time, which would seem to be the right way to do business.

This company's word is no good and they can not be trusted. AIS is unethical, their staff has no value for people or doing what is right from we can see. They are a young, immature, family-owned company whose word can not be trusted. PROTECT YOURSELF - do what is right for yourself and if they do not meet you where you need them to be in the contract, then WALK AWAY! AIS has shown us they did care about us or that they did not have much desire to do what was right for us. Their marketing as a family-owned business means nothing to us other than that they worked together to destroy our belief that a person's word - whether verbal or written - means something.
