Microwave Instructions for Frozen Blackeye Peas

Shops, Products, Services

I have been reporting to Safeway that their Safeway Brand frozen blackeye peas (20 oz poly bag) has erroneous Microwave cooking instructions for more than 5 years — spanning two package design changes. I have reported this 15 or more times— mostly email, but also by store complaint and by letter to the CEO and/or Regional store management. The same problem probably exists in other store divisions if they also sell the Safeway of this product.

If cooked according to the package directions, the end result looks and tastes like what could best be described as chopped radial tire. It's easily verified by taking a bag of the product to an employee break room and cooking it the microwave according to the package directions. If they were to take 2 or 3 packages, they could determine the proper amount of water to add to make them turn out.

I receive email confirmation of my reports to them, but no response indicating correction. I wonder if there would be a response (and correction), if I was reporting a health or safety hazzard.

Evidently, Safeway customer relations has no ability or voice in raising issues that need management action proper level to assure corrections.
