Will hold your credit card information after you cancel

After signing up with Match.com and cancelling my membership I called their corporate headquarters to have my credit card information removed from their database. I was told that once you click on their on line agreement they keep your information in perpetuity. I asked what steps I could take to have my information removed from their system and I was told there were none - that they could not and would not remove my credit card from their system. I contacted the BBB who sent them an email regarding my situation - the response again was that once you are a member they will never remove your information. I asked if they could detail their encryption systems for me so I could have an idea of how safe this information was -they would not respond. After siging up for a one month subscription I found it baffling that they were going to keep my information for the rest of my life I could not make a formal request to have it removed. I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one to reduce my fraud risk.
