DTR Films / Troy Michael Colburn DTR Films In Houston Troy produced bad video, cancelled contract and them damaged our companies name

I am very uneasy because a videographer that we hired to produce videos for us canceled a contact to produce several videos for us and now wont return our money. We hired him for a video deal that also included two youtube videos. After months of going back and forth with him to schedual the videos AFTER giving him a deposit, he finally produced our first two youtube videos. It took lots of editing to get the dancing on the video to match the sound.in the end, we excepted something less than what we were looking for in order to move on. We paid for this in early March and now it was June and we STILL did not have one DVD that he promised in the contract. He kept stating he was having family problems and other events he had to do even though he told we would do one video a week in the contract... (this was in March). When the video was being produced, i noticed that there was loads of clothing and other material in the background of the studio so I asked him would he be able to remove it or should we remove the items out of the studio now. He gave me assurance that he would be able to remove all of this during production and told me not to worry. Once the DVD arrived, i was very shocked that it looked like it was produced in a gargage and not a studio. The clothing was clearly visible in the background and one of the dances on video was way too fast. Once we complained about this, he said he would fix the one dance that was fast but asked for additional money to reproduce the video without the clothing in the background. After we told him we were not happy with the way it turned out, he cancelled our contract stating that he spent too much money producing it, called his lawyer and threated to put a lawyer on us if we contacted him again. He also asid he would refund the money for the DVD in a few days. When we asked for it the next week he said he needed more time and it would be a few MORE days. WE said ok then he wrote us to say he had 60 days to pay us and would do it instead in another two weeks. 2 weeks later, still no money and now he even has posted on his YOutube chanel that we are using his video without his premission on our chanel. All this after he told us that we owned the masters and all video rights. He is making money off of us by displaying his youtube work online to people who are not dancers and who do not know the music is off on the dance. We are in his portfolio now yet he says we are stealing our video that we paid for and we have no right to it.

If you do use this person, go over your contract with him and make sure HE understands what he is writing. He was very unprofessional when we told him we were not satisfied.instead of simply fixing the problem, he damages our name, hires a lawyer and accuses us of stuff thats just crazy that is not true. I just wanted to warn anyone who is searching for a videographer in houston texas. Stay away from DTR Films and Troy M. Colburn because he is not very smart and will blame you for all his own errors. AND he seem to produce anything professional when it comes to dancers and videos dealing with movement and music. Might be ok for a wedding but not for something like this.
