Prodigy froze my deposits from my credit card payments

I own a small retail store, when I received a call from Prodigy payment systems, I was told their rates were lower and I could save a lot of money each month with the processing of my credit cards. My Sales rep John Wilson filled out my applications and told me they would pay the current credit card processor to get me out of my current contract. I would save money. So I signed on.

Everything was ok for approx 5 days then I had a customer from Canada and we tried to run the credit card. Could not get it to go thru, go I called up Prodigy and asked for John Wilson my sales rep. I was told I could not talk to him, and was called back by a lady named Jade. She explained that they did not take credit cards from any where but the U.S., unless I wanted to change to a different processor. I told her I was not sure what I wanted to do, but maybe I would go back to my old processor. I did not hear from her again until the following week when I tried to call them. All phone lines were out. The next day I finally got ahold of Jade, and she said they had a power outage, but everything was up and running. When I asked why I was not getting any of my credit card transaction deposited into my account, she said it was because I was going to quit their service, and she could hold my money for up to 6 months if she wanted to. She also explained that I had told them that my manual transactions were only 5% of my business. But the week in questions the % was higher as I had been at an outdoor event with no electric. I had come back to my store and run the credit card sales on the money following the event. She said since this was high she could hold my deposits (approx $3000) until she could verifily that they were real.

Any way she wanted me to call all my customers / sales from that 2 day event an get home phone numbers and street addresses and zip. My customers were a little surprized with these calls as they have used their cards before and never had to verifiy all this information. This was pain in you know what.

After getting Jade all the information she finally released $2500.00 (10days later) and is still holding 417.00. She said she can hold this up to 6 months.

My experience with company has not been good. I feel like I have been ripped off. This has taken a lot of my time, and is still not cleared up.

I have cancelled my service with them and have returned to my previous credit card processing company. When I called my previous company they said my account with them had not been cancelled no fees paid and I was still a current customer.
