I have not received my refund

I put a dinette set and living room furniture on layaway at the Lakewood Towne Center location, paying $447.98 at the time I did the layaway, shortly after I received a call from a HomeUSA Warehouse employee saying the store was closing soon and I needed to come and either receive a refund, choose other items they had in stock or receive a store credit, I opted for the refund. At that time she told me that the corporate office had to issue the refund and it would be sent to my address within 6-8 weeks. I explained to her that I am in the military and was being transferred to another state and would not be at the address in 6-8 weeks and that I did not have a forwarding address. She then said that she would contact the corporate office and see if they would be willing to overnight a check to the store for me. She did not call me back,
So after a few days, I called her and she said that the corporate office declined and said I would have to wait the 6-8 weeks, so I let her know that my roommate would still be at the address and she would just forward the check to me once received.
I have not received any refund and I have looked up several HomeUSA Warehouse phone numbers and they have all been disconnected, fortunately I did called one location and a employee for the company that took over HomeUSA Warehouse informed that HomeUSA Warehouse had went out of business due to bankruptcy and they are awaiting a hearing. He informed me that HomeUSA Warehouse owes several people money, not only customers, but former employees as well.
