Shops, Products, Services

We'll begin with the fact that I started off dealing with "My Interstate Movers, " and wasn't completely unaware that they were a broker company. Not only did they fail to mention that they aren't even a moving company, but I did not know that I was going to get "Olympic Movers" until they showed up at my door.

My stuff was retrieved on May 24th, it is presently June 3rd and we've surpassed the 10 days that it was supposed to take to get me my stuff.
The people that showed up were early, and courteous. I thought for sure at that point that I had won the moving lottery. I was wrong.
I was told that I would owe 930 dollars today (which did seem pretty cheap for a move from Chicago to Florida). I was told to pay 1/3 to reserve the moving day, 1/3 when the people showed up to get my stuff and 1/3 when they drop the stuff off.

Up to this point I've paid 630 dollars. When the movers got there they tried to do the whole upcharging thing that I was told any moving company would do. I got them to only charge me an additional $170 dollars and thought I had handled the situation pretty well. A couple of days later, I got a phone call from them telling me that my shipment was actually 2,100 lbs. (700 over max estimate of 1,400) and that would owe them an additional $400 on top of the $548 that I owed them when they dropped my stuff off.

Really, this is where things begin to get a little funny. I told them I wanted a reweigh, but I didn't believe that my stuff weighs that much. Honestly, it can't. Joan/Olympic Movers told me that they'd reweigh my stuff, but it would cost $100 extra dollars. Wait... They want to charge me another $100 dollars to verify to me that they're ripping me off to begin with? Uh... Nooooo...

Original quote: $930
Money for the move, now: $1,502

I know that doesn't seem like a whole lot, but I'm unemployed, nearly completely broke and can't even get a freaking job without my suits and dress shoes - which are on the truck.
Which brings me to my second complaint...

They told me that they would have 2-10 business days to deliver my stuff. We're on day 10 right now and when I called to ask where my stuff was, Joan told me that she hopes my stuff will be delivered by Thursday? HOPES?!
When I asked them what they could do to make the situation right, she told me that they give $15 dollars per day in refund back for every day that they're late. Fifteen dollars? I've been sleeping on the ground for over a week!

I called My Interstate Movers, but it sounds like they're pretty much "in on it, " and they knew what they were doing. There is no honor amongst thieves.
