Nationwide Relocation, A-1 Modern Moving, Michigan Relocation Services Buyer Beware... You WILL be left stranded with nothing!

I moved from Michigan to Atlanta on May 9. I made a decision to use Nationwide Relocation, the first company that responded to my inquiry on what I thought was a reputable website www.moving.com, a decision I regret now more than any other I have made in my lifetime. Nationwide uses misleading advertising (the top of the email sent to me said "United Van Lines") and slick sales people to get you on board. Through the initial process, the company appears professional and on point.

After that initial VIP treatment (and you pay your hefty deposit) you are then ON YOUR OWN as you enter a "good cop, bad cop" scenario between Nationwide (the broker) and whatever loser carrier company (contractor) they choose to toss your stuff to.in my case, that carrier is called Michigan Relocation Services.

The slick sales guy at Nationwide ensured me repeatedly that it typically takes "a natural disaster" or some other major unavoidable event for things to be delayed except a day or two at most. My belongings were supposed to arrive May 9, so I figured it would be Sunday at the latest. I packed according to that plan and put very important work documents on the truck. As of today, it is day 23 and I am still without my important documents, a bed or a pair of socks. Even worse, I cannot even get a straight answer as to when my things will arrive.

The one time the loser carrier company opted to return my call (which was May 9) we entered the good cop/bad cop discussion where he, the contractor, was always put in this terrible position by the broker, Nationwide and [Nationwide] is well aware that 99% of deliveries are completed towards the very end of the contract window, which in my case would have been 5/16.

Since then, I have yet to receive a single call from Michigan Relocation, to assure me that my stuff is okay, to offer apologies, and give me a straight, honest answer as to where everything I have to my mine is and when it will be here. Nationwide of course blames everything on the carrier and claims that they struggle to get a call back themselves. Then I have to ask, why would you continue to use such a contractor? It is all momumental BS. I am now more than $2800 dollars in debt from this debacle... Cleaning supplies, blankets, clothing, medical supplies, a hotel for the past few nights as I was experiencing crippling back pain from sleeping on the floor, and the list goes on.

So as I sit and write this today, I STILL have absolutely no idea when I will get my things, where the truck even is, and no idea what type of compensation, if any, I will receive for this costly, nerve racking, unsettling experience. I beg anyone to be EXTREMELY cautious when hiring a moving company... Don't be fooled by slick people and false advertising. Make sure the mover is certified.
