Summit Van Lines
Poor service and possible fraud

Shops, Products, Services

I had to write this report because I just read a report from someone who had the EXACT same experience with these people including the same phone call shuffle, etc.

I wanted to complaint about the poor quality of customer service from this company. I hired them to move my one bedroom apartment from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, FL. They were schedule to arrive August 30. They arrived a day late. Their men were without uniform and in a rented truck without company markings. During the move, my laptop computer disappeared from my belonging left in the apartment for me to personally carry. I called the company immediately about the missing item. I was told they would look for it.

Then they severely underestimated my cost of move, but based on other estimates, I knew they had by about 2000$. My company was paying so I did not care much anyway. I asked the delivery man to arrange drop-off Sept 17. I called about 5 days (Sept 12) prior to that date and asked their front person Haide Smith, to confirm that date. She told me no problem. I asked to move it to Sept 16, but was told it was Yom Kippur and the company took a holiday. When Sept 17 arrived, no movers. I called and asked about when they were going to show, and was then told they do not guarantee delivery date and it would be next week. I made multiple calls asking that waiting for a week is unacceptable.

This is where people who identified themselves as company owners (Guy and or David Green) began telling me delivery dates, which they failed to honor.

I received my goods 5 days later (Sept 22) in poor quality, dirty boxes, many crushed. The damage was minimal, but my laptop computer was not among those items. They told me everything was delivered, but I pressed the issue and told them I am missing 5 boxes from the manifest. A day later, they told me they had 2 more boxes from my shipment. Those did not have my laptop computer either, so I requested since Sept 22 the paperwork to file a claim. I was told that I should not file a claim because it would not pay much anyway, and had to call about 4 times for this paperwork.

Most of all, the delivery guys had the audacity to ask me for a tip, since they work solely for tips. I was most satisfied slamming my front door.

First, David Green (berg) was supposed to send me the papers but he then went on vacation for 3 weeks? Then the complaint dept was supposed to send me the paperwork, but the address was wrong, etc

I filed the paperwork immediately and sent it certified. I am still missing a few boxes according the manifest.

I am still missing a few boxes according the manifest.

Now I am going to see if they follow up on my insurance claim.

I will hire a lawyer, I will pursue them.
