Cordless Drill Missing After Install, Told to File Police Report

I have been trying to get DirecTV to take responsibility for the installer (their subcontractor wearing a DTV shirt) who installed at my home on 3/5/08. He charged his cordless drill on my workbench next to mine. When he completed the job and left, I could no longer find my drill. I contacted DTV no fewer than 10 times by phone, email, etc. They said it is my "local" problem and told me to file a police report against the installer and file an insurance claim. I said it was their employee, and they said it was not their problem. I will take them to small claims court if necessary.
