Bait and Switch, Failure to Delive

On 3/10 my husband and I went out to Lexington KY in order to purchase a new couch set from American Freight. We have small children so we decided to go with the cheapest couch set they have since our last (more expensive) couch only lasted 2 years. We paid in full when we ordered and were told that a truck would come in and our couch set that we ordered would be delivered in two weeks time. Our receipt gave a delivery date of 3/21.

Well we waited two weeks and on 3/21 after waiting all day we finally called them. We were told that not enough of that set came in on the truck and we would have to wait 3 more weeks for it. We were assured that we were at the top of the list and that we WOULD get our couches in three more weeks. I was not pleased with this but decided to be understanding and told them that was fine that I would see them in 3 more weeks.

Three weeks have gone by now. I called them today just to check up on my order and find out a delivery date. When I called I was told that my couch wouldnt be in now till JUNE. They have had my money now for 5 weeks. And now I wont get it for another 2 months? I asked the person if they issued refunds and was informed that no they dont issue refunds. Both times that I have called they asked me if I wanted to come in and get another couch set and that I would have to make up the difference. Today he said to me " Im looking at a couch set now that we have in stock. Its X amount of money (over $100 more than what I paid for the one I bought) if you pay the difference we can deliver that one to you."

Im sorry but I ordered a cheap couch set because thats what I want. I want a cheap couch set because I have three small children and I dont want to pay for another expensive couch and have it trashed in two years time. We are not made of money. Raising children is expensive. Not everyone has the extra money to just upgrade to another couch set and pay the difference. I would be perfectly happy if they had offered for THEM to eat the difference in cost. Personally after 5 weeks time, two delivery dates later I think thats only fair. Unfortunatly Im not the type of person who can get mean or rude with people like this. I find it very hard to get mean with people even if they are dicking me around. Oh well. Lets see what my lawyers can do.

This is just another forewarning to people before they choose to buy furniture from this company.
