The moving company Echo Trans World is a typical example of the moving scam. They estimated my property as 200 feet, and then charged me for 400 feet. When I wouldn't pay, they threatened that they will keep my things until I pay, and add additional cost for storage during that time.

The move of alleged 400 feet (I had additional items but smaller size, as all the big items (sofa, chairs, kitchen table etc.) were included in preliminary estimation, and based on additional items, which were not even close to 200 feet they charged me double) - the move from Phoenix to Europe cost me instead of 3,500 dollars 8,000 dollars.

I learned only later that they had no right to demand anything more but the payment of 110% of their estimate before delivery, and could charge me for the rest 30 days after that. I also learned that charging per feet is illegal since I guess due to similar actions and abuse.in addition to that, they wanted 20% deposit in advance, at the time of my order.

They didn't do any part of the job themselves, they hired other companies (without my knowledge and consent), one to pick up the things and the other deliver them to the final destination. The company who came to pick them up was 1st Choice Moving and Storage, and they made me sign that I will not press charges in court in case that I don't agree with the size I will be charged for - they, buy the way, estimated my belongings as 300 feet, and I found even that to be exaggerated, they, however, also told me that they can't say how much will I be charged for by Echo Trans World.

I still don't have my belongings today, although it's been 2 months after they picked them up, and they were supposed to deliver them in 4 to 6 weeks after the pickup. It took them over 2 weeks to send me an invoice over e-mail, and then they claimed that the delivery is due 4-6 weeks after I pay the full amount.

I don't even know will I ever see my items, and what state they will be in. I have been ripped off and, even worse, I was told that my rights aren't protected as I am not U.S. Citizen, and that I couldn't even file a complaint at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, so the incident will not be registered on their record. They told me I need to hire the lawyer to get my money (what I was overcharged for) back. So, I really need help on this, and I think that mafia like Echo Trans World knows that, as they almost laughed in my face when I told them that I will press charges and go to the media with this.

I would be most glad to inform the media in the U.S. About this, as this doesn't make America look good in the eyes of European public (I am publishing this here), and, as I said, I also need a lawyer, for I cannot just let them get away with this, and I am sure I am far from being the only one who got robbed by them.
