Overcharging, Delaying shipment, Major Damage, Laack of Response

We used Echo Trans World to move from the US to Mexico in 2008. It was one of the worst experiences in our lives. They failed to ship all of our items, leaving some behind in the US, then telling us it would be an additional $5000 to ship them. When we said it wasn't worth it, they charged us $750 for storage and disposal of the furniture they left behind, and refused to deliver our furniture until we paid them.
They lost the customs documents needed to clear the furniture that did arrive. So it sat on a loading dock in Mexico for more than three weeks, each day accruing storage fees. For a while, they would not return our phone calls and emails.
Finally, after constantly fighting with them long distance from Mexico to New York and via emails, and paying thousands of dollars more in charges, the furniture was delivered. Much of it, including tables, chairs, lamps, dishes, was pack so poorly, it was badly damaged.
The move cost us about $5000 more than the original contract. When we complained to Echo Trans World, they offered a $450 refund as long as we signed an agreement not to go to the news media or write anything about them on the internet. We didn't accept their attempts at blackmail.
I wish the media would report on Echo Trans World before this company claims more victims.
