Social Security Number Required for Store Credit Card, Information Retained

I mistakenly applied for an Eddie Bauer credit card in their store. They requested my social security number, which I reluctantly supplied because the sales person said it was to open the account but would not be part of the account. Wrong! Bauer's agent is World Financial Network National Bank and they use your social security number to identify the account and to track in bound calls. They will also share that information. The day I got the terms and conditions I cancelled the account and opted out of all sharing.

I requested all my information back based on the deceptive business practices. Bauer defers to the bank, they both say they must keep the information. When World financial gets hacked, I am in big trouble and you can phish their system very easily. Even the President's Office drone has no motivation to correct their misrepresentations.
