Deposit ripoff, failure to pick up

In July we sought quotes from various movers to effect a personal effects shipment from California to Kent, England. El Al Moving Corp. Offered the most competitive quote which was accepted by agreement and contracted for on August 28 (Ref: 1072309) with a pick up date scheduled for September 24. Eva Beeks was the sales representative throughout the negotiations and arrangements that were made.

On the appointed date, El Al failed to show up but had earlier requested and was paid a 30% deposit in advance to confirm the shipping order in an amount of $1,887. Payment of the deposit was made on September 2.

Since notice had been served to the landlords to depart our apartment on the pick up date, emergency arrangements were made at the last minute with another mover company that has completed the required task. Subsequent contact with El Al to repay the deposit meet with no response either by email or telephone. The phone lines accept no calls.

This is a professional scam operation. Other reports filed so indicate. We wonder what the authorities can or are doing about this as this, it appears, is not the first time the people behind E Al are involved in a scam operation.
