They Stole My Diamond, Swapped My Stone, Robbed Me Blind, Swindled Me Detroit

Yesterday, Jan 9, I repaid a $2,500 pawn loan, plus $76 in interest to pick up my wedding ring from Federal Collateral Jewelry/Pawnbroker. I thought to myself that something just wasn't quite right with the stone, it looked different. Considering the fact that my family, has done business with Federal Collateral for nearly 40 years, I gave their establishment the benefit of the doubt, and thought maybe it just needed to be cleaned.

Once I got home and cleaned it, it became painfully obvious that this was not the same stone that was in the ring when it was pawned with Federal Collateral in early 2007. I truly hoped that it was simply dirt I was seeing. But this stone contains a large inclusion that is visible to the naked eye.in fact I don't believe this current stone has a fraction of the value the original one held. There is no way they would have given a loan of $2500 for a stone this poor in quality. I have never had my ring re-sized or professionally cleaned. It's only been in my possession and the possession of Federal Collateral.

Rest assure I have no malice or previous ill will against this jeweler. As I've stated, my family has done business with Federal Collateral for decades. This is a first, that's why I gave them the benefit of the doubt. My diamond was a pear shape, 1.55 ct, G-H in color, SI1 clarity. It is fully insured and has been since my husband purchased and gave the ring to me in July. I have all my original documentation, appraisal, and receipt for this ring.

If by chance this was a big mix up and somehow they want to say that my stone just happen to have been mistakenly replace by this other stone, I would be willing to give Federal Collateral the benefit of the doubt, again, just as long as my original stone is returned to me. But so far that haven't returned any of my calls. I'll have to return there in person.
