Is anyone else tired of the "big sharks in the water" eating up the little guppy's money? I was contacted by MCIWorldcom in August of this year in regards to their new Small Business long distance plans. I wasn't looking to switch my long distance carrier but MCI was offering a better deal then what I currently had, or so I was told. The sales rep that called me informed me of their plans, rates, and offers. He also told me that if I was dissatisfied with MCIWorldcom, for any reason, MCI would pay to switch me back to my previous carrier.

My small business would receive two long distance calling cards with a rate of $. 05 a minute and a toll free number for my business customers at a rate of $. 09 a minute. I was to receive the calling cards in the mail as well as the form needed for me to "request" my toll free number. The only thing I ever received from MCI was their bill.in the bill was a $19.00 certificate for me to use to cover my first bill with MCI. When I received the first bill for $13.00 I paid it with the certificate they had sent me and I also sent them a letter informing them to cancel my service with them.

I thought it was insane that they were sending me a bill to pay when I hadn't received the benefits of that bill. I did what I was told I needed to do to cancel my service with them. It should have been over, but it wasn't.

Yesterday I received another bill from them for $12.84. They had never cancelled my service! When I called to question this the customer service agent was extremely rude! She told me "There isn't anyone in this company that will do anything for you!" You have no choice but to pay this bill. I told her I was not going to be held responsible for her company's incompitance! It took a series of phone calls to finally have my service with MCIWorldcom cancelled and for them to credit the bill amounts to reflect a $0.00 balance!

The rep that originally contacted me did not tell me that there were minimum usage charges, monthly access charges, or a toll free number charge. I was told that all I would have to pay is the actual per minute rate charges.

So before anyone else out there gets taken in by MCIWorldcom request all of their charges be presented to you in a written form. It can be quite a headache getting that company to see their mistakes and a pain in the you know what to actually get them to take financial responsibility for their misrepresentations and nondisclosure of information.

Use caution before allowing MCIWorldcom to become your long distance carrier!
