AY Transport
A Y Transport Screwed nightmare Move from hell, consumer fraud ripoff

I contracted with National for my move from San Dimas California to Park City Utah. It turned out they were a broker and they set me up with AY Transport for my move.

AY called my husband, filled out a questionaire and then provided him with an estimate of $7k for our move. They were told during the conversation that our move included a Piano and Pool Table. They set up a day of Friday, August 30th, as the day the movers would be at our house.

We had everything packed and ready and had flown back to California to meet the movers. On Thursday night they call to confirm that they would be at our house at 8:00 the next morning.

By noon when they hadn't shown up we called and were told that they would be there within 3 hours. That's how our day went, they wouldn't show, we'd call and we were then told that they would be there shortly.By 10:00 pm we gave up and booked a hotel room for the night since all of the electricity and water in the house had been turned off for the move.

Before leaving we called AY once again and they promised that the movers would be at the house by 8:00 the next morning. We reminded them that we had to be out of the house by midnight on the 31st. We also reminded them that they had been informed of this the month before.

The next day, when the movers had not showed up by noon we began placing very irate calls. Finally at 2:00 two trucks showed up with five young men. I was nervous that all of my belongings would not fit. They did a walk through with us and assured us everything would fit. We were also concerned that they would not be finished by that night. They assured us that they would be finished in about 3 hours.

They began repacking all of our belongings. Every thing that was already packed in moving boxes provided by O'Neil storage, they repacked and covered in bubble wrap and tape.

At 5:00 one of the trucks left with three of the workers.By 7:30 the other truck was packed and none of my large furniture had been packed.

I was irate in the extreme. I demanded that they send another truck and additional help to load the pool table and piano, knowing that two young men alone could not do it. They just said something in a foreign language and left.

I called the company and they assured me that another truck and crew would be back at the house by 8:00 am. I reminded them that I had to be out of the house by midnight. They told me there was nothing more they could do.

I called the buyer of my home about the delay and they agreed to give me an extra day but let me know how angry they were about it.

Of course they did not show up at 8:00,10:00 noon or 2:00 the next day. They showed up at 3:15 with a small truck and three men. They assured me that they would be able to load everything.

They were not finished until 8:00 pm.By that time we had no choice but to get a hotel room again for the third night. We called AY to confirm that despite their delays our belongings would be delieved to Utah by Tuesday. (This was Sunday night) They confirmed that that would be no problem.

Of course no movers showed up on Tuesday. We made numerous phone calls and no one could even tell us what state the trucks were in.

Wednesday was the same.

Finally on Thursday morning we received a call telling us that the movers would be at our house by noon. They did not arrive until 2:00. The team consisted of two young men and three Latino men they had picked up at 7-11. Unfortunately neither of the two young men spoke Spanish and the Latino men spoke no English.

We were forced to make arrangements for two additional men to come and assist making sure that one was Bilingual. That was done at our cost of $400 for the day.

During this process they broke a door in our California house, scraped nearly every newly painted wall in the Utah house, broke every leg of the pool table & cracked the side wall of the pool table down its entire length, gouged the carvings off of our dining room table, broke a small marble table, broke a fax machine in half spilling the powered ink all over our patio furniture, scratched our piano and broke one of its legs, lost all of our yard equipment and ladder and the list goes on.

Worst of all, when they called to let us know they were coming they told us that the amount owed was over $8,000. This after a deposit of $2000 and a total estimate of $4000. They said that the extra fees were for packing and materials.

They refused to unload with us paying the cash they demanded. The sheriff refused to help us so we paid.

We are now fighting with them on the damages.

Over and above what we paid them, this move cost us:

$500 in hotel bills
$200 in fees because we were not out of our house on time
$120 in cleaning costs
$400 for the extra crew
$650 to repaint the damaged walls.

A total of $1820. The total cost of our move (an estimate of $4k) was $11,850.

For this price we could have hired Bekins and not had any damage to our goods.

Everyone out there, do not use National or AY Transport. I promise it will be the same nighmare it was for us. Or worse!
