Ripped me off $198 6% sales tax for table I paid for, but NEVER received!

In January I purchased, and paid for in full with cash, 3 living room tables - a coffee table, end table and sofa table. I went back after they came in to pick them up and the sofa table was not in. I did take with my that day the other 2 tables. I was told at that time the sofa table would be in in 2-3 wks.

When that time came I called to see if it was there and it was not and was told again it would be in in another 2-3 wks. I again called and was again told it wasn't in that there was a problem with the distributor they had been using for those tables and they would be ordering them through a different distributor once they found one.

I called over the next several months to check the status and was told they would be in eventually that it was not unusual for it to take months for furniture to come in. I was also told that if and when I decided that I did not want to wait any longer that they left if up to the customer as to how they would work it out. That I could put the money towards something else, get my back, that they worked with their customers to make them happy.

Finally decided enough time had passed, the table had not come in, and I did not want to wait any longer. I went out to the store to settle up last night (11/27/07). I did not want a cash refund, I simply want to apply the $198 ($209.88 w/tax) towards a mattress set.

It was then I found out that my paper work and their computer system showed I bought, paid for and had picked up all 3 tables. I was also informed the sales person who handled my original transaction no longer worked there. It was basically my word against theirs.

I assumed each time I called this was being documented. They decided they would "compensate" me $120 off the mattress set I wanted, and acted like they were doing me a favor doing that - that they "weren't even suppose to do that"!

Up to this time I had been totally patient and understanding each time I was put off during my phone calls. I trusted in good faith this company was a reliable one with trust worthy workers who knew how to do their job. Boy was I ever wrong!
