Sent "COLLECTION NOTICE" for very old "Verizon South" telephone # demanding $4,101.67

Afni sent a US Mail "COLLECTION NOTICE' claiming a balance due account of 4 thousand plus dollars 'has been aquired by our agency for collection'. The "disconnected phone number" is in an exchange I used to live in 15 years ago in a nearby city and I have a fairly common name. I recently refinanced my home and suspect this public record filing was used by these trolls to cross-reference a written-off telephone account from the former GTE (Greed, Trouble, Everyday) telco.

But that's just a guess, what is real is the huge amount for disconnected phone aquired from an "original creditor - Verizon South" which I have never heard of before. I immediately sent a dispute letter and will report any further communication. These people are a poor excuse for bottom feeders, IMHO.
