Owner Doesn't Pay For Work or Pay Employees When They're Delivering Work Oak Grove, Missouri

I quoted James Matlack's Employee $200.00 each for cutting and fitting a plastic pipe turntable spool baseplate. I was standing right next to the employee when he told Matlack that the price would be $200.00 each for cutting, fitting and welding the plastic pipe turntable spool baseplate out of 10 guage sheet steel.

Just as I was finishing the first one he called and was told that he owed me $200.00 for the first one when I finished it. He went ballistic and started screaming at his employee about the price. As I was working on the first one. I could hear him cussing at his employee over the cell phone over the sound of the welding machine. I asked the employee for some help handling this big sheet of steel. He said "I'm not doing anything because Matlack isn't not paying me for today. The kid/employee was using his own vehicle and gas to pull Matlack's trailer around and delivering it. When I found out that he wasn't going to pay me the $200.00 I just threw the pieces I had cut onto the turntable and welded them in place. I didn't care if they fit exactly or not but it DID turn like it was supposed to. I sent the trailer back to him with a demand for the agreed sum of $200.00. His employee came back with a check for $100.00 and said that. When he said I demanded $200.00 he thought Mr. Matlack was going to hit him. The kid/employee said that he had to collect his tools out of Matlack's shop and was going to quit as soon as he got his tools. He said he knew Matlack was a cheapskate but wasn't going to take anymore abuse from him. Matlack refused to pay him for any gas or any time he spent driving back and forth.
MY ADVISE: Don't hire Bearpaw Construction or Jim Matlack to do anything for you or your company. He uses the cheapest material he can find and works his employees at near slave labor wages. He has a volitile temper and threatens anyone who doesn't agree with him even over the smallest things.
