I agree with this article because I did work for this Kirby franchise and it was misleading from the start. You are lied to during the interview, orientation, and daily sales meetings. You are persuaded to sale overpriced vacuum cleaners to your friends and family with the promise of huge prizes and big commissions and none of it is true. You are taken out on vans hundreds of miles from your home where people are drinking and using drugs while operating a company vehicle.in the case of this franchise there has even been an accident that resulted in the death of one it's sales people. Most of the Independent Contractors are teen-agers and very irresponsible.

The company appoints so called managers to drive the vehicles and take sales people into the bogus appointments, and they put their favorite sales people into appointments first. Since there are so many appointments to go aroung there are many cases where people go out and do not get a chance to do a demonstration.

You pay finance charges if the machine is financed at an outrageous 23% interest rate. You are also told you do not have to knock on doors because they have canvassers to set the appointments for you, but everyone is put on the street to knock on doors, and if you refuse you do not get put into a house to do a demonstration.

This is just the surface of a monumental sham called MDM Sales & Marketing now going by the name of the Kirby Co.
