Warranty Sales Pitch ripoff Levittown

Purchased a cross-cut shredder 7/29/06. Was told at the time of purchase to buy the 1-yr. Warranty and if the machine stops working, I would receive a $40 credit in the store — didn't even have to return the machine. So, I purchased the 1 yr. Warranty also. The machine stopped working several months after purchase.
When I called Customer Service, I was told that the machine was under manufacturer's warranty (manufacturer is in China!). So, I waited until now, July 07, and was told that the machine is STILL under manufacturer's warranty (China).
